I create nonobjective paintings using acrylic, ink, and their combination on watercolor paper, Yupo synthetic paper, and canvas.

 Much of my work involves pouring liquified acrylics onto super wet surfaces. Rather than trying to recreate nature, I let nature participate in the creative process by the way paint and ink soak into the fibers of paper and the way they flow and combine as they seek out lower spots in the not-perfectly-flat surface.

Through my primary medium of paint, I typically focus on figurative themes. Much of my work centers on connections, interactions, and relationships between figures, objects and environments.

I am especially interested in capturing the gestural essence of my subjects-animate or inanimate, human or otherwise-rather than depicting a pure representation. My inspiration comes from memories and dreams, images and events around me, and from photographs of my experiences.
